Programme: Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Animation and Visual Effects

Appendix

A-1: Overall Structure

Every one hour of theory class amounts to 1 credit and every two hours of practical session amounts to 1 credit. Normally a candidate can complete the programme over 2 semesters (1 year) and he/she is permitted to complete the programme in a period of 4 semesters (2 years) double the duration of the programme.

A-2: Credit Values (V)

The credit value depends on the course offered in the programme.

A-3: Attendance

As per norms of JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road Mysore.

A-4: Evaluation of a Candidate in a Course

The evaluation of a candidate in a course has two components, (i) Internal A\assessment component (IA) and (ii) Examination component with weightage factors 40 and 60 respectively. The modalities for internal assessment component shall be defined by the teachers who offer the course. Generally it may be based on two tests (10 each), lab performance (10 each), and assignments for continuous evaluation (10 each). The examination component is based on writing examination conducted by the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road Mysore through Board of Examiners (BOE).

The percentage of the marks scored by a candidate in a course is the sum of the marks scored in the internal assessment and the exam components of the course. A candidate is said to be successful in a course if he/she scores at least 40% in the course with at least 35% in the examination component.

If P is the percentage of the marks scored by a student in a course then the grade point (GP) earned by the candidate is as given below.

P(%) G(Grade) GP = V × G
90 ≤ P ≤ 100 10 V x 10
80 ≤ P ≤ 89 9 V x 9
70 ≤ P ≤ 79 8 V x 8
60 ≤ P ≤ 69 7 V x 7
50 ≤ P ≤ 59 6 V x 6
40 ≤ P ≤ 49 5 V x 5
00 ≤ P ≤ 39 0 V x 0

If G = 0 (GP = 0) in a course then the candidate is assumed to have automatically dropped this course.

The overall Grade Point Average (GPA) after a candidate accumulate 40 credits is given by the following formula

Sum of all GPs
       40

A-5: Classification of Results

GPA FGP
8 ≤ GPA ≤ 10 A: Distinction
6 ≤ GPA ≤ 8 B: First Class
5 ≤ GPA ≤ 6 C: Second Class
4 ≤ GPA ≤ 5 D: Pass
