The department of Geography was started in the year 1964. With a view to give Knowledge about physical world. This subject is being taught as one of the optional subjects at BA level. The undergraduate programme is adopted the CBCS pattern. The syllabus is thoroughly restructured to suit the present changing needs of the society keeping this in view. We have introduced core papers such as Physical Geography, Human Geography, General Cartography and Environmental Geography. Choice papers have been introduced for V and VI semester.
(DSE-II) - Disaster Management or Geography of Tourism. (SEC-II) - GIS based Project Report or Field Techniques and Survey based Project Report.
In the Practical component - Contour Diagrams and Meteorological Instruments, Interpretation of Topographical maps and Indian daily weather maps, Map Projection, Applications of Statistical methods in Geography, Fundamental of GIS, Computer mapping(Digital Cartography) and GPS Surveying are carried out with the help of computers application. All the above are taught with the help of computer soft wares such as Map info and MS Excel.
Department of Geography is a full fledged and consists of well equipped two laboratories with PPT facilities and a spacious GIS lab having 22 systems with UPS backup.
