About the Department

The Department of Kannada was established in the year 1967.Since its inception the Department of Kannada has prepared the students to obtain various jobs in the Administrative services both at the State and National Level. Some students who got their BA, optional kannada and they have completed their higher studies in Manasa Gangothri,Mysuru and other University Centers.

Some of our students who have settled in many Alumni of the Department have contributed to the knowledge of kannada by writing books on various topics of kannada literature. Many have written even the reference books on different subjects of Kannada.

The Department of Kannada has conducted many Workshops, Seminars and Conferences. The faculties are also actively participating both at the State and National Level Seminars and Conferences as delegates and resource persons. The Department has its own library. The faculty has not only engaged in academic work but also involved in cultural and extension activities.

The Department of Kannada has 10,000 books in the library with 37 Journals.
